I’ve been waiting so long Until something came my way It’s time my bubble burst It’s not going down that way I can’t feel no more lonely Than I feel right now I’m tired of wondering why And I’m sick of wondering how So tell me, won’t you tell me Where I’m going wrong Cos I’m running out of patience And there’s no more lonely songs I don’t believe in soulmates That stuff is make believe It’s the liquor of the lonely The sad and desperate pleas Step outside, the wilderness Is seldom warm and safe But there’s got to be and ending Everything within it’s place So tell me, won’t you tell me Where I’m going wrong Cos I’m running out of patience And there’s no more lonely songs

The Plough 03:38
A million pairs of eyes watch over me Treading water in a gentle and dark sea The treasure in the night is far too rare But the plough is all I need to take me there The dew is slowly soaking through my shoes Well disconnect and make up our own news Interpret verse we learnt when we were young Tonight it is the sweetest tune ever sung So I’ll go, knowing it won’t ever be the same Yes I’ll go, clutching to the photo in its frame Yes I’ll go, keep the senses locked within my mind An hour in a dream, where the stars were all aligned It must have been a year since breathless streets Routines, through the cycle and the repeat The air is still; no chill falls on my bones If I stayed here any longer I’d call this home It creeps away the distance of the song We laughed, we cried, we felt and we belonged Keep the morning, it’s here I need to stay, But for now the plough will always light my way So I’ll go, knowing it won’t ever be the same Yes I’ll go, clutching to the photo in its frame Yes I’ll go, keep the senses locked within my mind An hour in a dream, where the stars were all aligned

Won’t catch a ray of sunlight If it’s not the clouds, she’s staring at the moon She said, “The future is now history, The ending of my years arrives too soon” Darkness absorbing all the light Drifting into everlasting night Facing all the love that hope can bring But she can’t see spring No she can’t see spring Snowdrops in the winter A flower grows between the cracked concrete But she’s searching for the daffodils And grass that grows right underneath her feet I’m not saying that I understand But God I’m trying, I’m holding out my hand, To live in spite, in spite of everything But she can’t see spring No she can’t see spring The ground on which we fight on Is battered with tears of angry ways I don’t posses the answers But I can say, “I’m sure there’ll be better days” Convoluted circles turning grief Doesn’t turn doubt into disbelief The morning sun will not change a thing But she can’t see spring No she can’t see spring

I uttered my first words of the day At 9 o’clock at night Even then it was to speak to the other side of me Trying to fill the hours when you don’t Want to be with anyone But hate the thought of being lonely Sitting in my thinking chair, My body here but mind elsewhere, It’s getting late but it’s too soon to cry, Feels like winter in the middle of July I roam from room to room feeling safe, These walls offer protection Confinement is a reassuring friend The darkness makes it easier to sleep But I can’t get no peace A gallery of faces sit without their names Champion of the meek ain’t grand 500ml trophy in hand Waiting for the dawn to purify Feels like winter in the middle of July I hear friendly voices laughing in the living room, However when I join them empty seats are all that greet me, Echoes bounce inside my head and then defeat me Trying to fill the hours when you don’t Want to be with anyone But hate the thought of being lonely
